Oleander

Carpaccio de Betabel (thinly sliced beet salad) from Conato

 

I named this blog after an exquisite restaurant <Conato> in Valladolid, Mexico. The food was so unique and tasty that Max and I went there twice despite having to drive 3 hours each way. "Conato" in Spanish is originated from "conatus" in Latin and means "will to live". I don't consider myself as somebody with a strong will to live. Quite the opposite. But, when I write here, I hope to remind myself of things that keep me going. 

 

Apropos of conato, I want to mention that my accent lesson's material (OL combination) had the following sentence:

All parts of the oleander plant are poisonous.

• N. oleander leaves extract is prepared by boiling air-dried leaves in 0.9% NaCl solution (1:1, w/v) for 3 h by steam distillation
• 15-20g of root or 8-10 seeds
• Yellow stronger than pink
