    Mexico 2024 2024. 1. 31. 02:05

An illustration from study material for medical terminology. So much fun to learn how my body works and what the organs look like!

Here is an example of how different Max and I are:

Two nights ago, just before going to bed, Max came to me asking, "Do you have hot water in your shower?" I was like, "You don't?!" The airbnb has two bathrooms so we don't share them. It's been over a month since our arrival, which means he's been taking a cold shower the entire time. This indicates two things about him:

    1. He doesn't get bothered by these little inconveniences as much as I do. I said "little" from his perspective. If I found the shower with no hot water, I would call him for help right away. I think this is what makes him a better traveler as the Korean saying goes "집 떠나면 고생". His carefree attitude, on the other hand, makes me look bad. I'm the Grouchy Smurf with a permanent scowl. We have a lot in common, but this difference is glaring. I am very sensitive to temperatures, get cold and hot easily like "양은냄비" and he never gets cold. But he tries to listen to my complaints and accomodate me and I appreciate it, especially knowing that it wouldn't be easy for him to understand my fussiness. For instance, yesterday I was feeling a bit under the weather and having a bad mood and he opened the window in the car instead of turning on the AC because he know I feel chilly at night.

    2. He doesn't function well in everyday stuff, like the most ordinary stuff. His shower didn't have hot water because he didn't turn the faucet properly! He's terrible at finding things. I call him blind. Whenever he looks for something and I tell him where it is, he can't see it until I come and point at it. He constantly loses things, he relies on me for technical problems like installing a printer. A few days ago, he lost his flipflops on a beach. He left them under a lifeguard tower thinking it's a safe place to leave personal belongings and when he came back, they were gone. If they had been mine, I would've been upset, yet, him being him he just shrugged it off (thank god, I made him pack two more pairs).
